Camp Minden is located in Minden, Louisiana, just east of Shreveport.

Camp Minden has lodging available for DOD ID card holders year round, which can be made via phone or email by contacting the Billeting Manager.  During Annual Training months, they may not offer Non-Official lodging, so be sure to call ahead before making any plans.  What you will find is some of the most inexpensive lodging rates out there (based on status – official or unofficial duties) for a full size bed and private bath, but reservations are not guaranteed and may be cancelled due to mission requirements, so have a backup plan just in case.  All of their rooms are non-smoking, and the billeting hours are 0700-1730, Tuesday-Friday.  If arriving during non-duty hours, the billeting packet and room key will be at the MP station.

Camp Minden also offers Camper Slips and a Bunk House, during hunting season and on weekends, on a first come first served basis.  14 camper slips (30 amp) are $10/night, and the Bunk House is $10/night per person, air conditioned/heated, with open bay bunks, wall lockers, a latrine and shower area.

While staying at Camp Minden, you’ll find on post an Enlisted Club (open 5 days per week, closed Sun/Mon), a Post Exchange (closed on Sat/Sun/Mon), and hunting and fishing available.  Hunting is open to LANG members and State Military Department Employees (including retirees with valid military SMD ID card), and dates are set in accordance with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries hunting regulations.  Fishing is open to LANG members and State Military Department Employees (including retirees with valid military SMD ID card), and there are 3 ponds with fishing gear available to sign out at the Post Exchange.

Nearby, there are some local insights to check out.  Shreveport is just a short drive west on I-20, where you’ll find the Sci-Port Discovery Center which features an IMAX and hands-on science exhibits.  Spring Street Historical Museum, Riverboat casinos, R.W. Norton Art Gallery, the Shreveport Aquarium, the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum, Splash Kingdom Waterpark, and the American Rose Center are all noteworthy places to check out, as well.
