Dayton Air Show Introduces Drive-In Format For 2021

The CenterPoint Energy Dayton Air Show has come up with an exciting solution to help keep spectators safe during the COVID-19 pandemic! In turning the show into a drive-in viewing experience, the event coordinators are ensuring proper social distancing while allowing fans to see the jets and planes flying overhead. WHIO ~ ” The CenterPoint Energy Dayton Air Show is moving to a drive-in format for the 2021 show at the Dayton International Airport to align with current COVID-19 health guidelines, a spokesperson for the show said in a media release Wednesday. The show will convert the normal spectator area into a parking and tailgate area, similar to a drive-in movie theater format. Parking spaces will be sold in a 20 foot by 20 foot viewing area, where half the spot will be used to park the vehicle and the other half used for spectators to view the show.

Ticket prices start at $99 for up to six people in one spot for general admission while a platinum option, including front-row viewing areas, will be sold for $199, organizers announced.

In accordance with health guidelines, patrons will be required to wear a facial covering when necessary, however organizers noted the drive-in style offers “outstanding” social distancing features.

Because of the pandemic safety measures, no static aircraft displays will be featured in this year’s air show.

This is the 47th anniversary of the air show will be held July 10 and 11,headlined by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. Last summer’s air show was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “ ~ WHIO
