What is a Fisher House?

A Fisher House is a lodging facility offered free of charge by the Fisher House Foundation to the families of patients receiving medical care at a major military or VA medical center. Typically, they offer 8 to 21 fully-furnished suites and can accommodate 16 to 42 family members.  A Fisher house is a temporary residence and is not a treatment facility, hospice or counseling center. Since the program began in 1990, it has provided more than 6 million days of lodging to more than 277,000 families.
