Fleet Week and Navy Week 2018 Schedules

Fleet Week and Navy Week are both public outreach events intended to bring community and military together, but with different cities and schedules. Generally, Navy Week locations are hosted in cities that do not have as large a Navy presence as Fleet Week cities with the intention of sharing the importance of a strong Navy. Below is a general description of each, and links to the Fleet Week and Navy Week 2018 Schedules.

Fleet Week  is a Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard tradition where active military ships that have been recently deployed in overseas operations dock in a variety of major cities for one week. Once the ships dock, the crews can enter the city and visit its tourist attractions. At certain hours, the public can take a guided tour of the ships. Often, Fleet Week is accompanied by military demonstrations and air shows such as those provided by the Blue Angels.

Fleet Week Cities: Ft Lauderdale, FL (Broward Navy Days) April 30-May 6; New York City, NY (Fleet Week New York) May 23-29;  Portland, OR (Rose Festival) June 6-10; Seattle, WA (Seafair Festival) TBD but was held last year in August; Los Angeles, CA (LA Fleet Week) August 31-September 3; Baltimore, MD (Maryland Fleet Week & Air Show Baltimore) October 3-9 and San Diego, CA (Fleet Week San Diego) October 22-28

Navy Week is sponsored by the Navy Office of Community Outreach (NAVCO) that is designed to bring America’s Navy to cities throughout the country which do not enjoy a significant Navy presence and generally includes performances by the Navy Blue Angels and arranged flyovers and static displays by operational aircraft as well as performances by the Navy Band and speaking engagements with senior Navy Flag Officers and other civilian city leaders.
