Eglin AFB FamCamp, FL | Featured Military Camping Facility

Getting away and enjoying some R&R is always a welcome treat. So why not try Eglin AFB FamCamp? It offers great outdoor accommodations in two locations, Camp Robbins and Postl Point.


The park at Camp Robbins is located on Shambo Cove Road off Memorial Trail. It offers 60 sites with water, sewer, and electric (50 amp, 30 amp, 110v). A total of 45 sites are pull-through and 15 are back-in. RV sites are gravel with a concrete square adjacent to each site, plus a picnic table. The park has a bathhouse and laundry room with 4 washers and 4 dryers, coin operated. An asphalt road leads in and out of the park with a gravel drive at each site. Camp Robbins also has 14 tent sites with water hook-up only.


The park at Postl Point is located adjacent to the Outdoor Recreation Center off Flagler Road. The camp has 22 sites with water, cable TV, and electric (50 amp, 30 amp, 110v). All sites are pull-through with an asphalt road in and out of the park. Each site has grass parking and a picnic table. The park has a bath house and a laundry room with 2 washers and 2 dryers, which are coin-operated; a change machine is located inside the laundry room.

Eglin AFB FamCamp

Eglin Air Force Base is located in the Florida Panhandle, and there are plenty of things to do and see in the surrounding area. Here are some suggestions:


  1. Beaches: Eglin AFB is surrounded by beautiful beaches, including Destin Beach, Fort Walton Beach, and Okaloosa Island. Enjoy swimming, sunbathing, surfing, or simply relaxing.

  2. Hiking and Outdoor Activities: The base is surrounded by the Eglin Air Force Base Reservation, which offers numerous hiking trails, camping sites, and outdoor recreational activities like fishing, boating, and kayaking.

  3. Naval Air Station Fort Walton Beach: Visit the nearby naval air station, which offers a museum, a memorial, and a chance to see aircraft take off and land.

  4. Emerald Coast Science Center: Located in Fort Walton Beach, this science center features interactive exhibits, a butterfly garden, and a shark tank.

  5. Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park: Get up close and personal with dolphins, sea lions, and other marine animals at this popular attraction in Fort Walton Beach.

  6. Okaloosa Island Pier: Take a stroll along the pier, go fishing, or enjoy the sunset views.

  7. Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park and Cultural Center: Explore the history and culture of the area at this museum, which features exhibits on the Timucuan Indians, the Civil War, and the military.

  8. Destin Harbor Boardwalk: Stroll along the harbor, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy the views of the marina.

  9. Fishing Charters: Book a fishing charter and head out into the Gulf of Mexico to catch some of the area's famous seafood.

  10. Golfing: There are several golf courses in the area, including the Eglin Air Force Base Golf Course, which offers 18 holes and scenic views.

  11. Fort Pickens: Located on Santa Rosa Island, this historic fort offers stunning views of the Gulf and the surrounding area.

  12. Pensacola Beach: Head to Pensacola Beach, which is about an hour's drive from Eglin AFB, for more beaches, shopping, and dining options.

  13. National Naval Aviation Museum: Located at the Naval Air Station Pensacola, this museum showcases the history of naval aviation and features over 150 aircraft on display.

  14. Fort Walton Beach Indian Temple Mound: Visit this ancient temple mound, which dates back to the 14th century.

  15. Okaloosa Island Fishing Bridge: Take a walk across this historic fishing bridge, which offers stunning views of the surrounding waters.
