Hill AFB FamCamp, UT | Featured Military Camping Facility

When in Utah, make Hill AFB FamCamp part of your tour.  Strategically placed between the shores of the Great Salt Lake and Thurston Peak Mountain, there is no shortage of things to see and do.


Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance and must be paid in full at time of reservation. The maximum length of stay April-October is 14 consecutive days except for those traveling on PCS orders. Long term stays are allowed October 15th-April 15st.


The FamCamp offers pull-through or back-in spaces, either full hook-up or overflow with just water/electric. There are also 6 tent spaces. Pets are allowed but certain breeds are restricted.



Hill Air Force Base has some things to do and see around the area:

  1. Hill Aerospace Museum: Located on the base, the Hill Aerospace Museum showcases the history of the US Air Force and features a collection of aircraft, missiles, and other military equipment.

  2. Golden Spike National Historical Park: This national park is located just outside the base and commemorates the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in 1869. You can take a guided tour of the park's visitor center and learn about the history of the railroad.

  3. Ogden Union Station: This historic train station is located in downtown Ogden and offers guided tours of its restored passenger trains and railroad equipment. You can also grab a bite to eat at one of the on-site restaurants.

  4. Ogden River Parkway: This 9-mile trail runs along the Ogden River and offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. You can hike, bike, or jog along the trail, or simply take a leisurely stroll.

  5. Ogden Botanical Gardens: These beautiful gardens feature a variety of plants and flowers, as well as a peaceful atmosphere perfect for relaxation. Admission is free, although donations are appreciated.

  6. The Ogden Nature Center: This nature preserve has over 12 acres of natural areas, including forests, meadows, and wetlands. You can take a self-guided tour of the trails and learn about the local wildlife and ecosystems.

  7. The Utah State Railroad Museum: Located in nearby Brigham City, this museum showcases historic railroad equipment and offers train rides through the surrounding countryside.

  8. Snowbasin Resort: Located about 30 minutes from the base, Snowbasin Resort offers skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports in the winter, and hiking and mountain biking in the summer.

  9. Ogden Valley: This scenic valley is located just north of the base and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. You can take a drive through the valley, go hiking or biking, or simply enjoy a picnic.

  10. Downtown Ogden: The city of Ogden has a charming downtown area with a variety of shops, restaurants, and bars. You can grab a bite to eat, do some shopping, or simply take in the sights and sounds of the city.
