Important Update: New UK Travel Requirement Effective January 8, 2025

If you are planning on traveling to the United Kingdom, you'll need to be sure you obtain an ETA - Electronic Travel Authorization - in order to transit through the UK, if you do not possess a valid UK visa. This applies to US, Canadian, and many non-European passport holders, and your ETA must be secured before your departure. If you do not, be aware that you'll run into flight boarding or UK entry issues, which is sure to put a damper on your trip.

Further, beginning April 2, 2025, you'll find that the requirement for an ETA is expanding to most European countries. There are also some countries that aren't eligible for an ETA, and those will continue to require a visa. This link, courtesy of the UK Government website, gives you a list of the countries eligible for an ETA.

Essentially, you may need a visa to come to the UK to visit, study or work, and depending on your nationality, you may need to get an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). You can check if you need a UK visa by going to this website and answering a few quick questions about your travel.
