This week's featured Military lodging facility is the Kodiak MWR Guest House, located at US Coast Guard Base Kodiak in Alaska. If you haven't been here before, you should note that the Kodiak MWR Guest House is a historical building, where you'll find beautiful mountain views and an easy walk to the Exchange, Commissary, and many MWR facilities.
The Kodiak Guest House features 46 rooms, 3 family suites, 3 VIP suites, and 2 handicap accessible rooms. There are 3 full kitchens, dining areas, and laundry facilities on each floor for your convenience. The standard rooms have 1 full bed or 2 twin beds, family suites have 1 full bed and 2 twins with a sitting area, VIP suites have 1 queen bed with a sitting area.
The guest house staff also support the MWR pet-friendly 4 plex apartments, which are 2- and 3-bedroom units with kitchens, a bathroom, and a living room with cable TV.
There are plenty of fun things to do in the area, such as bear viewing the famous Kodiak brown bears, fishing, hiking, kayaking, wildlife cruises, and more. On base some things to do include the Boat House, aquatics center, Billiken Movie Theater, Tsunami Lanes Bowling Center, and not far from base is the MWR Bear Valley Golf Course.
