Military Living® Publications is thrilled to share with you a new series - the Military Charities Spotlight. We are sharing information on charities that benefit YOU - our military veterans and their families. We are running the Military Charities Spotlight to bring attention to some worthy causes that are near and dear to our hearts.
This week we are featuring Northeast Florida Women Veterans, Inc. This organization holds a special place in our hearts, because one of our own, Amanda, is an Army retiree who is on staff with the organization as the mental health counselor. Northeast Women Veterans Inc. has been serving women veterans of Northeast Florida since 2012.
Their mission statement reads "The Northeast Florida Women Veterans, Inc. is focused on ensuring women who have served on active duty, National Guard or Reserves transition into the civilian community with the tools they need to become self-sufficient. We operate a resource center to provide supportive services and resources to women veterans and advocate for and promote community awareness of their challenges and accomplishments at the local, State and National level ensuring each has a voice."
Northeast Florida Women Veterans offers various programs and resources for women veterans, regardless of discharge status or length of time served. Some examples include "HerTOTALWellness", a program designed to empower women veterans on their path to self-sufficiency by addressing their holistic needs, "HerBIZ", a program to help women veterans become self-sufficient through entrepreneurship, "HerSPACE", a program encompassing transitional housing and emergency shelter for women veterans and their children who are experiencing homelessness in Northeast Florida, as well as advocacy, community outreach, and more. All at no cost to the veteran.
If you or someone you know can benefit from their services, please direct them to the Northeast Florida Women Veterans website, www.forwomenvets.org.
