Defense Logistics Agency ~ "Visitors to military installations, including Defense Supply Center Richmond, will need to present a Real ID for access beginning May 7, 2025.

The Real ID Act, originally passed by Congress in 2005 and now set for full implementation in just a few weeks, set prescribed minimum security standards for government-issued identification, including drivers licenses.

With this change, anyone accessing Defense Supply Center Richmond or other secure federal and military installations will need Real ID-compliant identification. This will also be required for boarding flights in the U.S. for air travel.

Acceptable IDs for access to DLA and other Department of Defense installations include:

  • DOD common access cards

  • DOD uniformed services ID cards– military retiree or dependent IDs

  • Local DOD access cards and passes – i.e. a Defense Biometric Identification System cards or visitor passes

  • Real ID-compliant driver’s licenses, enhanced driver’s licenses, or nondriver’s identification cards issued by a state, territory, possession or the District of Columbia

  • U.S. or foreign passport or passport cards

  • Transportation Worker ID cards

  • Veteran’s Health ID cards

  • Federal personal identity verification cards

  • Non-federal PIV-interoperable cards

If a visitor does not have a Real ID, a combination of acceptable credentials can also be used. Alternate credentials include a passport or a Federal PIV card, or a combination of non-compliant driver's license and another identification card, such as a Transportation Worker's ID Card or Veteran Health ID Card.

To determine if your current driver's license is Real ID compliant, look for a star in the upper right-hand corner of your ID.

Visitors requesting access without a Real ID-compliant credentials or acceptable alternative will be denied unescorted access to DSCR. First-time visitors or those with questions about installation access should contact or visit the DSCR Visitors Center.
