The U.S. Air Force Celebrates its 70th Anniversary Today!

Today the U.S. Air Force Celebrates its 70th Anniversary,  although its roots date back to 1907 when it was under the Aeronautical Division of the U.S. Signal Corps. By 1926 it was redesignated as the U.S. Army Air Corps, slowly growing to 15 groups and three wings by 1938. In 1941 it was once again redesignated as the Army Air Forces until its final redesignation in 1947 as its own separate branch, the U.S. Air Force.
