Veterans Day is a day we honor those who have served in our military. Every year at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC, there are two ceremonies held at the Memorial Amphitheater. One is on Memorial Day in May, the other is on Veterans Day, November 11th. There are also numerous other military and government organizations that conduct annual memorial services at the cemetery, all of which are free and open to the public.

"The ceremony commences precisely at 11:00 a.m. with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by Veterans’ organizations and remarks from dignitaries. The ceremony is intended to honor and thank all who served in the United States Armed Forces."
Some history behind Veterans Day - it originated as Armistice Day on November 11, 1919, which was the first anniversary of the end of World War I. If you have the chance to visit, everyone should go at least once in their lifetime.
