The Wateree Recreation area is located near Camden, SC, 50 minutes north of Shaw, AFB. The campground is 45 miles northwest of Columbia, SC.
Wateree Recreation Area is located in the heart of South Carolina’s Olde English District, situated on a peninsula of 25 pristine wooded acres. The Park offers 22 RV sites with water, 20/30/50A electric, and sewer hook-ups, and unlimited tent camping with no hook-ups. Pets are allowed in the camping area, some restrictions apply.
Wateree Recreation Area offers 11 two-bedroom cabins, 4 three-bedroom cabins, and 1 one-bedroom cabin, some of which are pet friendly. Each cabin is fully equipped with dishes, pots, pans, coffee makers, microwave ovens and TV. The park has a playground, fishing, boat docks, boat launch, 3 covered picnic pavilions, public bathhouse, picnic tables and barbecue grills. Ski boats, pontoon boats, SUPs, canoes and kayaks are also available for rent.
Reservations can be made 120 days in advance by active-duty military members assigned to Shaw Air Force Base, 90 days in advance by other active duty members, and 60 days in advance by all other authorized users. All cabin rentals are a 2-night stay minimum.
