So whether the Olympics have inspired you to get out there and take advantage of the snow-capped peaks, or maybe you just need a break from winter’s daily routine, now is the time to get out there and enjoy!
We have compiled a list of ski areas from across the U.S. including Lake Tahoe and many other popular ski venues that offer discount ski tickets for military that are within approximately 100 miles of military bases that provide lodging! Many of the resorts we found are affordable and convenient, offering amenities to make your day solo skiing or with the entire family a great memory!

Elmendorf Air Force Base (JBER) Hillberg Ski Area offers skiing right on base and lodging at JBER Lodging. You can’t beat this location and price! Seward Resort offers fantastic lodging specials throughout the season as well as Dogsled Tours and Free Cross Country Ski Equipment to all its guests!
Big Bear Recreational Facility offers a great retreat in the San Bernardino Mountains near to great skiing and snowboarding at Big Bear Mountain Resort and Snow Mountain Resort, both offering 25% off single day lift tickets for Active Duty and dependents.
Lake Tahoe Coast Guard Recreation Facilities offers convenient lodging accommodations in beautiful Lake Tahoe, near to Homewood Mountain Resort, which offers free non-peak lift tickets on non-peak days and 50% off all other days and holidays to all Active Duty and dependents. Squaw Valley Resort offers a military pass purchase deals for all Active Duty.
Buckley Air Force Base offers accommodations and is located less than 60 miles from Echo Mountain which is easily accessible for a day trip. Although Colorado offers world-class ski resorts, the majority are a 2-3 hour drive from any military lodging. Ticket and Travel offices do sell discounted season passes to those locations.
Mountain Home Air Force Base offers lodging and is approximately 60 miles south of Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area. Bogus Basin offers discounted day and season passes to Active Duty, Dependents and Retirees. Soldier Mountain is about 85 miles northeast of the base and also offers military discounts.
Portsmouth Naval Shipyard offers lodging at the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites on base and is located about 75 miles south of King Pine Ski Resort in New Hampshire.King Pine offers discounts to Active Duty, Dependents and Retirees.
Pointe Betsie Recreation Cottage located along the shores of Lake Michigan in Frankfort is approximately 75 miles west of Shanty Creek Resorts, which offers discounts for Active Duty, Dependents and Retirees. Crystal Mountain is about 20 miles south, and offers discounted season passes to Active Duty, Dependents and Retirees.
Grand Forks Air Force Base offers lodging and is approximately 100 miles south of Frost Fire Ski Area, which offers discounts to Active Duty and Dependents. Minot Air Force Base offers lodging and is approximately 80 miles southwest of Bottineau Winter Park, which offers a minimal discount on day lift tickets to Active Duty only.
Hill Air Force Base offers lodging and is about 30 miles south of Snowbasin Resort, which offers discounts to Active Duty and Retirees ages 18-64; senior, teen, and children discounts available. Nordic Valley Resort is about 30 miles north and offers discounts to Active Duty, Retirees and Reservists.
Fairchild Air Force Base offers accommodations and is about 45 miles southwest of Mt Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park, which offers discounted anytime packages for Active Duty. McChord Air Force Base and Fort Lewis offer plentiful lodging options and are approximately 80 miles west of The Summit at Snolquamie, which offers discounts to Active Duty, Dependents, Retirees and Reservists.
