NEW ORLEANS (May 11, 2010) An Oil containment boom sits on a truck at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans after being off-loaded from an Air Force C-17 transport aircraft from Anchorage, Alaska. The equipment will be used to support cleanup efforts for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Deepwater Horizon was an ultra-deepwater oil rig located 130 miles southeast of New Orleans that exploded April 20 and sank April 22, causing a massive oil spill threatening the U.S. Gulf Coast.
