April 2010 - Aircraft assigned to the U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Command are on the flight line at Naval Station Rota, Spain. Naval Station Rota and nearby Moron Air Base absorbed many U.S. military flights that were diverted from Northern European routes due to ash from a volcanic eruption in Iceland. The number of daily flights arriving at Naval Station Rota, typically eight to 13, doubled over the weekend. Photo: USAF MSgt Keith Meyers via Wikimedia Commons.

  1. The pax reps at Rota are wonderful. They kept us informed about changing flights and took good care of us. Only problem is that the food service was under construction and not available when we were last there. Hope that after the construction is complete, things will be back.

  2. My wife and I were there in Oct 2017, and had a great trip. The terminal area is great with very nice people and everything very handy except food. Auto rental is right there in the termal. The only issue is, if you have a long wait, it is a little walk to eat because of the restaurant being remodeled. So plan ahead, bring sandwiches, and enjoy a very nice facility and people.

  3. Have been to a dozen space-a overseas bases throughout the world; Rota is up there with the best. Does anyone know about tours to Morocco from ROTA or from nearby civilian cities? Thank you. Walt Studdard, USA ret

    1. Hello, Mr. Studdard. Thanks for your review! For questions on tours in the local area or nearby destinations, we recommend you contact the Rota ITT office. You can reach them at C-011-34-956-82-2610.

  4. A great spacea terminal. Staff is very helpful. I gave them four out of five stars because the eating facility is under construction (well, it was the last time I was there) and unavailable. Also their flight box lunches are terrible!

  5. Rota gets 5 stars in all areas. One of the best places on my Space-A itineraries. I am seriously considering buying a small apartment in town. I presently live in Germany, and the ONLY drawback with Rota is that there are not many flights to Germany.
